The company was founded in February 2007 and is owned by the Weisschuh family. The Weisschuh history dates back to the year 1926 and has since been offering high quality products and services in the area of electronic engineering. The idea and knowledge for color coding was developed by Jabbar Kareem, a mathematician and statistician with 25 years experience as system analyst. All NANO-COM products and services benefit from the long time of experience in the area of electronics and hardware obtained through the Weisschuh business and knowledge in the area of data processing obtained by the Al Jaff family.

The barcoding industry suffers from a lack of a unified and machine readable bar coding system which is capable of holding large amount of information on a very limited space. On the other hand it should be practically impossible to clone or copy these color codes. Unlike the common barcode systems which represent keys to access more information stored in a database, the new color code is self-contained and can be used as a portable data bases in any field without the need for a separate and central server. This is the most suitable way to read and store important data on a code because it offers the opportunity of high storage density (amount of data per area of space).
