Logistics is the time related positioning of resources. It can also be described as the management of the flow of goods, information and other resources. Logistics has become part of our modern control of processing and dispatch and is inevitable for any efficiently functioning manufacturing and trade system. In order to enhance large scale manufacturing processes, the production, packing, dispatch and shipment of products and goods must be automatable, thus controllable. This means that the manufacturing process starting from any single resource and finishing with the complete and delivered roduct should be comprehensible throughout the entire process.
Nowadays, the main industry standards are black and white barcodes and, more recently, RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology. Unfortunately both these technologies are limited by data storage capacity. This means that usually only unique numbers are assigned and related information is stored in a central database. This requires setup, maintenance and connection to such centralized storage IT systems.
Our new color coding system provides a better alternative to existing systems because the storage capacity is much higher. It allows detailed data such as production date, expiry date, ingedients, serial number and much more to be stored and attached to the product on a small sized product label. The main feature is its capability to act as a portable database system which can store categories and sub-categories. Furthermore, it is completely machine readable, information can be queried and instructions executed. It therefore provides a completely new opportunity for the logistics sector such as enhanced automation due to more detailed information.
